Anna Parker
Whilst growing up in Nottingham, Anna studied the saxophone, piano, clarinet, flute and voice. This led to a place at the Royal College of Music where she was tutored by Kyle Horch and Martin Robertson. During her time there, Anna’s love of ensemble playing flourished, primarily stimulated by her role as the baritone player in a saxophone quartet, ‘Quadrophonia’. The group was founded at the RCM and performed in many concerts around the country. In addition, wind band, big band, solo and orchestral performances played an important part in her college education. Anna was also able to receive piano lessons, which concentrated on the skills of being an accompanist.
Since leaving college, travelling the world and relocating to Norwich, Anna has maintained her passion for music performance. This includes playing in orchestras, saxophone quartets, function bands and theatre pit ensembles. She is the regular baritone saxophone player for the well known ‘Front Row Big Band’.
Teaching has always been important to Anna and this started whilst still a teenager in Nottingham. She became a full-time member of Norfolk Music Service 20 years ago. Here, alongside a private practice at home, Anna teaches woodwind and piano and is an active accompanist.
Anna has three children and loves the mixture in her life of teaching, performing and her family. She greatly enjoys socializing with friends and family and loves escaping to the beach whenever she can.
