Conductors of The Mozart Orchestra this season
We are excited to be working with two guest conductors this season, both highly regarded Norfolk based musicians - Keith Hobday and David Stowell.

Keith Hobday
Keith Hobday is a seasoned and engaging conductor and violinist with a diverse career in music. He has served as Music Director of the North Norfolk Sinfonia for 16 years, leading performances ranging from Shostakovich's 5thSymphony to the original Sheringham version of Vaughan Williams' ‘London’ Symphony. His repertoire also includes children's concerts, musical theatre evenings, a narrated performance of Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream and much more.
Beyond conducting, Keith actively contributes to the music community. He founded and chairs Norwich Baroque, Norfolk's only professional music ensemble, and organises the Cromer Music Evenings recital series. His previous roles include nearly a decade as Head of Strings at Gresham’s School and ten years as a founder and director of The Belfry Centre for Music & Arts in Overstrand. Recently, he became the General Manager of The Yorke Trust in South Creake, a music education organisation that hosts concerts and courses for young people.
Keith recently played violin in the orchestra for Norfolk & Norwich Operative Society's highly acclaimed 2026 production of Carousel at Norwich's Theatre Royal, and this summer in Norwich, he is organising Europe's largest celebration of John Dowland's music to mark the 400th anniversary of the composer’s birth.

He continued to work with Orchestras in the UK, a memorable highlight being the performance of a new work by Edmund Rubbra with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen. He has since appeared with the London Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonia and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

For the Millennium Festival at the National Indoor Arena David was commissioned to compose the music for the opening ceremony. Other Commissions include composing for the City of Birmingham Choir Festival held in Symphony Hall Birmingham, Music for Her Majesty the Queens State Visits and music for the Bishop inauguration ceremony, commissioned by the Royal College of Church Music.

In the Brass Band field he has conducted many bands including the Black Dyke Mills band, the GUS Band, Brighouse & Rastrick and Grimethorpe Colliery.

Following an opportunity to score a drama production in America (The Lake. 1987) David has worked as a composer on many television and radio productions including 'A Christmas Carol' . 'The Letter'; 'Anne Boleyn'; 'All Talk'; 'Out of Time'; ‘Unbeliever'; 'The Snow Crystal’; 'Sariel', 'Titan's Eagle' 'Mi Reino' and ‘Ice Bound' for which he was nominated for a ‘Queens award for Television’ for Best Original Score.

Here in Norfolk, David
has for many years been the inspirational conductor for the young musicians in the Norfolk Symphonic Wind Band.
